Behind a two-hitter in the circle from Tournament Most Outstanding Player Mary Adametz, Mercy High beat Foran High, 4-1, in the SCC softball final at Biondi Field in West Haven on Sunday afternoon.

Adametz, a junior, surrendered singles to Rebekah DeRosa and Marissa Bruno and walked one, powering the Tigers (19-4) to their second league title in three years.

Foran, the sixth seed and defending SCC champions, scored its lone run in the top of the second when DeRosa singled and scored on Jenna Zacarelli's squeeze bunt.

Mercy responded with four runs in the home half of the frame, with Astin Donovan's two-out RBI single tying the game at 1. Stephanie Mangiamelli followed with a bloop single to right field that drove in two runs, before Tyler Keegan laced a run-scoring double to left-center field to make it 4-1.

From there, Lion ace Jess Harkness retired 13 of the final 14 batters she faced, but Foran failed to get to Adametz — who struck out four.

The Lions (18-5) are seeded No. 8 in the Class L state tournament and will host No. 25 Bristol Eastern (9-11) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
