The Foran High wrestling team repeated as Southern Connecticut Conference B Division champions, and set a program-best mark for wins, when coach Frank Peters’ Lions defeated Cheshire High, 49-17 on Wednesday.

Foran won 8-of-12 weight classes on the mat against the Rams, and will bring a 23-6 record into this weekend’s SCC Tournament at Shelton High.

Jake Pouliot opened things with a pin in 3:34 at 113 pounds and Jubilee Witte followed with a first-period fall in 1:33 at 120.

Cheshire won the next two bouts to close within 12-8, but C.J. Luth won a 7-0 decision at 138 and Luke Stojanowski scored an 8-6 win at 145.

Clay Callahan improved to 35-0, and gave Foran a 24-8 lead, with a win by fall in 1:36 at 152 pounds.

Cheshire won at 160, before Wasim Khan pinned at 1:44 at 170 and Zach Hubler took a 3-0 decision at 182.

A Cheshire pin and two forfeits to Foran led to the 106 match, where Liam Callahan  recorded a 12-4 major decision.
