The Foran High baseball team lost a heart-breaker to Cheshire High, 5-4, at Ken Walker Field on May 21.
Coach Garrett Walker’s Lions had played well and took a 4-1 lead into the seventh inning, when Cheshire scored three two-out runs to take the lead.
Andrew Nolan had been a bulldog on the mound for Foran, and retired the first two batters in the seventh, before Dan Schock singled, Cooper Mrowka doubled him home, and Ethan Lonardelli pulled a 3-2 pitch inside the foul pole in right field for a two-run home run.
Cheshire improved to 13-6 and Foran is 4-15.
The Lions took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. RJ Jackson singled, and after Sam Olsson and Tyler Chacho walked, scored on Dillon Brown’s sacrifice fly. Chris June followed with an RBI double.
Cheshire tied the game in the third on two hits and two walks.
June doubled to open the home fourth. Josh Mixie sacrificed him up a base, where he scored on Joe Radecki’s sacrifice fly.
Foran tacked on a run in the fifth when Tyler Kasuba opeed the frame wih a triple and scored on Jackson’s single to center.
