Foran High wins SCC wrestling championship

The Foran High wrestling team captured the Southern Connecticut Conference Wrestling Championship title at Wilbur Cross High in New Haven on Saturday.

Coach Dave Esposito’s Lions, led by Ryan Luth, who was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler, finished with 141 points to better defending champion Xavier-Middletown (130), Daniel Hand-Madison (129.5) and Shelton High (102.5).

Jonathan Law was 11th. Troy Anderson took third at 106 pounds.

Foran's Michael Ross and Noah Hubler won titles, Jubilee Witte took a second, Gino Esposito, Qasim Khan and Luke Edmondson thirds, and Colby Stuart was fourth.

Luth was the 132-pound champion, defeating Colin Rook from Guilford.

Ross won the 145-pound title over Branford’s Zach Cash.

Hubler took first at 160 pounds with a win over Oscar Carmona out of Guilford.

Witte took second at 138 pounds.

Gino Esposito was third at 113 pounds after defeating Guilford’s Keldon LaRose in the consolation final.

Khan was third at 170 pounds with a win over Fairfield Prep’s Evan Titus.

Edmondson won his consolation final in the heavyweight division over Branford’s Hyun.Jin Lim.

Stuart was fourth at 182 pounds.
