Football: Hubler leads Lions past Guilford High

Foran High’s football team defeated Guilford High, 37-12, in an SWC matchup on Friday at Milford.

Jared Hubler ran for 288 yards and three scores and passed for 188 yards and two touchdowns, as coach Jeff Bevino’s Lions improved to 4-3.

Guilford is 3-4.

Hubler opened the scoring with a 7-yard TD run and then tossed the two-point conversion pass to Matt Kennedy.

Guilford’s Jack Strand made it 8-6 with a 7-yard run of his own.

Hubler hooked up with Mark Wootten for a 61-yard touchdown in the second period. Zach Cleary’s PAT made it 20-6 at the half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Max Tavitian caught a 9-yard TD pass from Hubler and Kennedy latched onto another two-point conversion.

Strand threw a 20-yard TD pass to Tyler Filey and it was 23-12.

Hubler scored on runs of 49 and 63 yards and Cleary caught a conversion pass to complete the scoring.
