Football: Foran High defeats East Haven, 31-7

Senior quarterback Lance DiNatale threw for three touchdowns and passed for 217 yards in leading the Foran High football team to a 31-7 Southern Connecticut Conference road victory over East Haven on Friday night at Frank Crisafi Field.

The win, after a two-week lay-off, brought the Lions' record to 3-3 as Foran heads into a game next Friday night against Branford.

"This was a game we had to win," said Foran coach Jeff Bevino. "With two weeks off, I was hoping that we wouldn't come in here and be stale. We certainly weren't. We played extremely well on both sides of the ball."

Foran took a quick 6-0 lead less than a minute into the first quarter, after Matt Cruz caught DiNatale's screen pass and went 72 yards for the score.

DiNatale, who completed 10 of 15 passes, threw TD passes of 18 yards to Jared Hubler at 7:42 of the first quarter and 14 yards to Brett Huber with 5:54 left in the third quarter.

Huber scored Foran's other touchdown on a 15-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Pierce Klein made three extra-point conversions and added a 30-yard field goal near the end of the second quarter.

East Haven's lone score came at 5:33 of the third quarter, as McClay Marshall raced 56 yards into the end zone.

Foran's defense held the 2-4 Yellow Jackets to 163 yards rushing, while it's offense ground out 286 yards
