Foran High’s football team jumped out to a lead and then closed out host Branford in the second half to win a 42-12 SCC decision on Friday night.
Lance DiNatale threw three touchdown passes to Brett Huber, as coach Jeff Bevino’s Lions improved to 4-3. Branford is 4-4.
DiNatale and Huber connected 13 times for 175 yards.
Foran showed its balance on offense with Matt Cruz gaining 137 yards and rushing for a 7-yard TD.
Zach Cleary ran for a 1-yard score and Pierce Klein converted all seven conversion kicks.
Foran took the lead in the first quarter on DiNatale’s 22-yard pass to Huber.
Cleary’s TD tote took the score to 14-0, before Branford’s Noah Lorden narrowed the lead with a 12-yard run.
Huber’s 54-yard touchdown reception gave Foran a 21-7 advantage at the break.
Branford’s Jay Dering returned the second-half kickoff for a 70-yard touchdown.
Cruz’s 7-yard run and Huber’s 8-yard catch put the Lions on top35-12.
DiNatale ran for an 8-yard touchdown in the final period.
Foran will host Amity High, winners of two straight, at Vito DeVito Field on Friday at 7 p.m.
