Fencing team fares well at Guilford
Foran’s fencing team put in a strong showing at the annual novice tournament at Guilford High School.
Sophomore Arshia Puri advanced to the second round of direct elimination in women’s foil, winning 4 out of 6 bouts.
In men’s foil, senior Victor Rosado placed in the top third of his pool, also winning 4 out of 6 bouts.
In men’s epee, senior David Leonard took a win in his first tournament ever, and junior Brandon Camacho made it to the first round of direct elimination, winning 2 of 5 bouts Junior Troy Gallipoli won 3 of 5 bouts.
The team is in its third year in Milford’s high schools, and has quickly gained attention as a local powerhouse in this elite sport, with a full season of 13 invitational tournaments slated this year.
