Foran High Principal Max Berkowitz and Athletic Director Anthony Vitelli recently presented the 2014 annual Fencing Club Championship Trophy to tournament winners Michaela Smith and Andrew Hiza at Foran High.
Ending a banner inaugural season of competition, the Milford Combined High School fencing team held its final tournament of the year in March.
After 42 hard-fought bouts, the women’s championship was won by Smith, a Foran High junior.
Jonathan Law freshman Isabela Roldan took the silver meda, and Foran senior Barbara Clayton won the bronze.
In the men’s division, Hiza a freshman, narrowly defeated junior Matt Jason to take the championship. Law senior James Thomas won the bronze.
Coach Mark Kissinger said, “I want to congratulate every team member for displaying the highest levels of sportsmanship all season, and I’m already looking forward to building on this year’s success.”
