Milford used a strong defensive presence to come away with a 4-2 win over NFA-St. Bernard when the Indians took the ice at the Milford Pavilion on Saturday for the first home game of the season.
It was the first win of the season for the Indians, who worked hard on defense after dropping the season opener to North Branford on Wednesday by a 4-1 margin.
Four minutes into the game the aggressive defensive stance found the Indians down by a two-man advantage due to back-to-back penalties.
But Milford rose to the occasion and held NFA scoreless as the Indians scored two first-period goals.
Milford was down a two-man advantage two more times in the second period, but goalie John DePalma (23 saves) was sensational in the net holding NFA scoreless in the second period as Milford took a 3-0 lead.
Zach White (two goals, assist), Rob Buskey (goal, two assists) and Will Vitelli (goal, assist led the attack.
