Casey Dulin "possible" to play at Quinnipiac tonight
Casey Dulin of Milford, a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) preseason first-team all-league selection, is hoping to make her season debut for the Marist College women’s basketball team today when the Red Foxes (3-4) open up MAAC play at Quinnipiac University (4-4). Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
When contacted, Marist officials responded: "Casey is making great progress and will be a game-time decision for tonight’s match up".
As the Poughkeepsie Journal first reported on its website, Dulin was injured in the Red Foxes’ closed scrimmage against Cornell prior to Marist’s Nov. 8 season opener against the Kentucky Wildcats.
Dulin, a senior co-captain, averaged 10.2 points a game last season — the most of any Red Fox returning from the 2012-13 squad — and a team-high 3.2 assists per game.
The Red Foxes are vying for their 10th MAAC championship title this season, ninth consecutive. Quinnipiac was voted third in this year’s Preseason Coaches’ Poll, receiving 102 votes. Marist was voted first, receiving 121 votes.
Friday’s matchup can be watched live on ESPN3 with commentary by Dean Darling and former Marist women’s basketball standout, Julianne Viani.
Fans can also listen to the game live with the voice of the women’s basketball team, Geoff Brault, on the Red Fox Network, iHeart Radio, and Rock 93.3 FM.
Marist heads into Friday’s game on a two-game winning streak, defeating Old Dominion 87-82 in overtime and St. Bonaventure last weekend, 68-51.
Marist opened up the season 0-3 but are 3-1 since its loss on Nov. 17, at Princeton.
Quinnipiac was previously members of the Northeast Conference (NEC) and were crowned champions in 2013, posting a 30-3 overall record and an undefeated 18-0 in conference.
Through seven games, Quinnipiac is averaging 74.5 points per game.
Following this matchup, the Red Foxes head to Boston on Saturday to face Boston University. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
