Boys soccer: Lawmen edged by RHAM, 1-0
The Jonathan Law boys soccer team traveled to RHAM, and lost a 1-0 decision in the opening round of the Class L state game in Hebron.
Coach Mike Gruber’s No 22 Lawmen finished at 6-9-2. No. 11 RHAM (10-6-1) will play at No. 6 Watertown (12-4-1) on Thursday.
RHAM’s Anthony Costa scored the lone goal in the 46th minute.
Law keeper Jack Pincus Coyle got injured in the first 15 minutes of the game and Law went to Kevin Linn, who did a tremendous job in goal making 15 saves.
Law looked to tie the game up but was unsuccessful.
Seniors Kris Gjuraj, Jucar Lopes, Dennis Sweeney, Zack Anderson Manar Almidani and Samuel Maddela helped Law return to the state tournament for the second time in 16 seasons.
Law returns a bunch of underclassmen next year that saw significant playing time this year and were key components to the team success.
Linn, Pincus Coyle, Will Contaxis, Troy Anderson, Colin White, Maher Sassoglu, Matt Tournas, Matt Evanko, Sean Theisen, Nick Dostal, Andrew Frenzel, Mark Germanese, John Vitale, Kyle Goglia, Tyler Edwards and Tim Hanna will all be back next year.
