The Jonathan Law boys soccer team (1-0-1) and Career/Hillhouse (1-1-1) battled to a 2-2 draw on Friday.

Coach Mike Gruber’s Lawmen struck first when Will Contaxis connected with Jack Pincus Coyle on a set piece at the 10-minute mark. Law had a couple chances to go up 2-0, but Ethan Silver made some key saves to keep the score at 1-0.

Career/Hillhouse’s Raphael Joseph scored on a bouncing ball in the box to even the score right before halftime. Law had another opportunity before the half, but Kevin Linn shot just went wide.

Career/Hillhouse tallied its second goal of the game on a beautiful combination play, which was finished off by Charles Sakovogui.

Law responded at the 58:20 mark with Maher Sassaoglu scoring his first goal of the year with a gorgeous header that beat the keeper upper 90. Zack Anderson supplied the assist.

Both teams had a couple chances in the last ten minutes of the game. Silver came up huge when he stopped a penalty kick that prevented Law from another scoring opportunity.

Pincus Coyle had seven saves for the Lawmen and Silver finished with six.

The Lawmen are at home on Monday against Daniel Hand at 4:30.
