Boys soccer: Jonathan Law scores late to top Lions
Sophomore forward Miguel Valenzula's goal off a cross from senior Kevin Linn with six minutes remaining in the second half led the Jonathan Law boys soccer team to a 1-0 home-field SCC win over city rival Foran on Wednesday night.
Linn, who has scored 18 goals this year and has 58 for his career, beat an outside defender and sent the ball towards the far post, where Valenzula found it and tapped it home.
The win, combined with an earlier 3-0 victory over the Lions, gives the Lawmen a sweep in their annual series.
Foran closed out its season with a 2-8-5 record while Law (8-7) has one game remaining next Tuesday at Harding of Bridgeport.
Law held a thin 11-10 margin in shots, but had the better of opportunities in the second half with seven.
Evan Miller made seven saves for the Lions while Jack Pincus-Coyle had five for Law.
Each team had four corner kicks.
