Boys hockey: Milford Indians defeat Branford, 5-2

Andrew Gobany scored two goals when the Milford Coop boys ice hockey team defeated Branford High, 5-2, on Saturday. Milford is 1-2-0. Branford is 1-2-1.

Branford’s Scott Klouda scored early for the Hornets, before Doug McLenithan scored on a power play to tie the game. Jim Cronin and Tom Cicarelli had the assists.

Branford’s Michael Annunziata scored in the third minute of the second period.

Gobany, from Luke Gibbs and Nash Ericson, then tied it for Milford.

The Indians’ Jake Burwell scored at the midway point of the frame to give Milford the lead. Santi Palacio and McLenithan had assists.

Gobany made it 4-2 with six minutes remaining. McLenithan had the assist.

Brandon Argyros scored an empty net goal at 14:11. Gobany had the assist.

Luke Alfano stopped 32 Branford shots. Justin Edwards had 30 saves.
