The Foran High boys basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak with a 57-48 win over Jonathan Law in an SCC Hammonasset Division matchup at Fraser Gymnasium on Friday night.

Zach Tavitian powered the Lions with 19 points and Jordan Townsend added 17. Foran notched the victory despite sinking only 12 field goals, using its size advantage inside to earn 37 trips to the foul line. The Lions made 24 of those attempts, with Tavitian (7-for-9) and Townsend (11-for-19) leading the charge.

Matt Marino's 3-pointer gave Law a 31-28 edge with 3:02 left in the third quarter — the Lawmen's only lead of the second half. Tavitian, Foran's 6-foot-6 junior forward, then reeled off six straight points to put the Lions back in control, 34-31.

Marino's jumper narrowed the Law gap to 36-35 with 7:17 left, but the Lawmen were hit with a technical on the ensuing possession. That led to four straight foul shots for Townsend, with the senior guard hitting three of the four. Foran embarked on an 8-0 run from there, bolstered by a Matt Krempa 3-pointer, and Law never got it back within one possession.

Foran led by as many as 11 points in the first half, but the Lawmen used a 7-0 flurry to close the first half. Evan Carollo hit a 3-pointer and layup, sandwich around a steal and basket from Destin Johnson.

Marino had a team-high 13 markers off the bench, Johnson chipped in with 11 and Carollo had 10. The Lawmen dropped to 0-10 overall.

The Lions improved to 3-7 overall.
