The Jonathan Law boys basketball team lost a 58-42 decision to visiting East Haven High on Saturday afternoon in the season opener for both squads.

Justin McFadden was the sole Lawmen scorer in double figures, with 21 points, while Nolan Beardsley added six points.

Law trailed the entire game, as Yellowjacket guard Conor Reynolds sank a 3-pointer to open the game staking East Haven to a lead it would not relinquish.

A jumper from McFadden trimmed the Lawmen deficit to 20-16 with 4:03 left in the second quarter, but East Haven countered with a 14-0 run to close the half — opening up a 34-16 advantage.

Beardsley and McFadden scored baskets  coming out the break, but that was as close as Law would get the rest of the way.

Reynolds scored a game-high 22 points for East Haven, which knocked down eight 3-pointers. Nick Durso netted 20 points for the Yellowjackets.

Law returns to action on Monday with a road game against Amity at Mengold Gymnasium in Woodbridge.
