As the University of Bridgeport baseball team continues play in the 2016 NCAA Division II East Regional this weekend, several postseason honors have begun to roll in for members of coach Joe Tonelli’s UB program.

Three Purple Knights received National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association (NCBWA) All-East Region honors, as senior designated hitter Alnaydo Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.) was chosen first team All-NCBWA, junior third baseman Casey McCone (Milford) earned second team  All-NCBWA honors and senior starting pitcher Rob Anderson (Stratford) was named honorable mention All-East Region.

McCone also earned a second team All-East Region selection on the Division II Conference Commissioners’ Association team.

The Purple Knights will be back in action at the NCAA Division II East Region Baseball Championship at p.m. on Saturday at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H.
