Baseball: Alicki, Foran shut down Wilbur Cross in opener

Anthony Alicki threw a two-hitter, striking out 13, and drove in five runs to fuel Foran High's 11-0 rout over visiting Wilbur Cross on Wednesday afternoon in an SCC interdivision matchup.

The hard-throwing righty worked six innings on the hill, allowing just a pair of third-inning singles, and didn't issue a walk.

He also went 2-for-5 at the plate and cleared the bases with a double in the bottom of the first inning.

Casey McCone added two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs, while Tyler Kasuba went 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

The Lions, ranked seventh in the New Haven Register Preseason Poll, will travel to Pat Wall Field in Wallingford tomorrow to face Lyman Hall (0-1) at 3:45 p.m.
