Lauralton Hall\u2019s cross country team competed in the 32nd annual Wilton Invitational. Kelly Jones finishing 13th overall in the 2.5-mile varsity race, running 16:23.2. \u201cKelly faced competition from some of the best teams in the state like Glastonbury, Trumbull, and Guilford,\u201d Lauralton coach Ellis Gill said. \u201cCarys Cook finished 58th and Maggie Willer finished 85th.\u201d Lauralton met reigning SCC champion Guilford, Shelton and East Haven on Tuesday. Guilford had its top seven runners place in the Top 10. Lauralton went 1-2 on the day. Gill said: \u201cKelly Jones had a strong race against arguably the best returning runner in the SCC, in Julia Anthony of Guilford. Kelly finished third overall, running 19:04 for the 2.9-mile race. Carys Cook took eighth overall in a time of 21:16.9. Maggie Willer was 12th in 23:08. \u201cIsabella Thomas, new to the team this season, ran a strong race (25:19). Laurel Micholovich, Grace McCormack, and Brooke Jones rounded out the rest of the varsity girls.\u201d Lauralton will travel to North Haven Tuesday and will have its SCC Quinnipiac Division meet on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Guilford fair grounds. Teams involved will be Lauralton Hall, Sacred Heart Academy, Mercy, Hamden, and West Haven.
