Umpire training classes begin in February

The Fairfield County Chapter of Approved Baseball Umpires (FCCABU) will begin training prospective umpires on Sunday, Feb. 7, with virtual rules sessions for four weeks.

On field mechanics will begin on Sunday, March 7, and conclude on Sunday, April 18.

FCCABU provides qualified baseball umpires for youth and amateur programs in Fairfield County including CIAC and Independent High School, Little League and Babe Ruth, among others.

Anyone age 18 or over is invited to learn skills and study rules that will enable them to officiate games, have some fun and earn a little bit of extra money.

The comprehensive training will give you the confidence to take the field and prepare you to get the calls right.
