Law softball to meet Branford in state quarterfinals

No. 13 Law (15-5) will play at No. 4 Branford (16-2) in the Class M softball quarterfinals on Friday at 4.

Coach Melanie Bludes’s team opened with a 10-1 first round win against Lewis Mills.

It defeated No. 4 Haddam-Killingworth 7-1 on Wednesday.

Freshman Talia Salanto allowed the Cougars (15-2) a run in the sixth inning.

Law scored two runs in the first, one in the fourth and sixth, and three in the seventh.

Nic Salanto was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBIs.

Maddie Lula had two hits, including a triple, and scored two runs.

Courtney Hanson had two hits.

Ella McGlynn had a home run for HK.

In the win against Lewis Mills, Paige Jolley had three hits and four RBIs, including a home run in the second inning.

Grace Hess had two hits and three RBIs.

Nic Salanto and Sarah Paulus had two hits each.

Hailey Coonak had three hits for Lewis Mills.
