Law athletes take three firsts at CT Relay Festival

Shane Pritchard, Thomas Bretthauer, Jackson Warters and Keyshon Giles won the 4x200 relay at the CT. Relay Festival held in Middletown. The Lawmen ran a 1:34.13 to best Ellington’s time of 1:34.71.

“The athletes had a great time competing against new competition and running different relays,” Law coach Joe Beler said. “This was a great meet for the kids to bond and come together with SCC's and states approaching.’

Nine teams competed for individual honors on Xavier High’s Robert Michalski Track.

Law’s Caden Simpson was the girls’ champion in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal record time of 1:15.22. E.O. Smith’s Mary Jasmine DeVivo took second (1:16.72).

Champions in the Swedish relay were Chris Wootton, Naheim Washington, Shane Pritchard and Ethan Harrigan. Law’s winning time was 2:06.42. Southington was second in 2:08.4.

The Swedish relay is comprised of four runners. The first runner runs 100 meters, the second one 200m, the third 300m and the fourth 400m. The length of the race is one kilometer.

Sydney Simpson, Brooke Dillman, Lauren Davis and Katie Konareski were fourth in the girls’ Swedish relay in a time of 2:31.96.

Eira Rodriguez, Shelby Green, Hannah Rascoll and Katie Konareski took second in the 4x800 with a time of 10:32.88 to E.O. Smith’s 10:17.22.

Jackson Warters’ personal best time of 59.47 in the 400-meter hurdles was good for second. Newington’s Eli Roberts placed first in 57.48.

Giles, Bretthauser, Harrigan and Wooton (3:50.50) placed second to Ellington (3:46.88) in the spring medley relay.

Russo, Arika, Caden Simpson and Elly Van Waveren finished fifth in the 4x200 relay in 1:59.86.

Dillman, Sydney Simpson, Davis and Rascoll placed seventh in the sprint medley relay (4:54.47).
