Lauralton Hall’s cross country team defeated Shelton (20-35) and Foran High (26-29) in each squads first meet of the season held at Eisenhower Park on Thursday.

“Sophomore Kelly Jones won the meet in an impressive time of 21:59, and the next fastest runner came across at 23:41, so she won the meet pretty handedly,” Lauralton coach Ellis Gill said. “Carys Cook (24:23), Kate Backus (24:30), and Maggie Willer (24:49) all finished in the top 10 for the varsity race as well.

“To have 4 of your runners finish in the top 10 of a tri-meet is not easy to do. The race with Foran was tight the entire way, and was very enjoyable to see a close finish between the two Milford schools. “

Lauralton will host Platt Tech and Amity next Tuesday at Eisenhower Park.
