Kantor hit ends lightning delayed game, Law tops Lyman Hall

Grace Kantor doubled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning when Law defeated Lyman Hall 5-4 in an SCC softball game in Milford on Monday.

Law coach Melanie Blude tweeted: “One of the best games I have been a part of. 1) 5-4 win in 9 innings, 2) freshman Grace Hess with a pinch-hit RBI single to tie game in 6th 3) Grace Kantor RBI double to win game in 9th 4) Maddie Lula broke the single season doubles record with her 13th of season.”

Lyman Hall (9-8) held a one-run lead in the sixth inning when lightning delayed the game for 90 minutes. Nicolina Salanto singled when play resumed with one out on the scoreboard. Sarah Paulus sacrificed her into scoring position for freshman Grace Hess, who singled her in to tie the game.

Paige Jolley reached on an error to open the ninth. She went to third on a misplayed sacrifice bunt. Kantor knocked her in as Law improved to 11-5.

Maddie Lula had a double and run scored in the first. It was her 13th double of the season, surpassing the school record for doubles in a season.

Talia Salanto pitched nine innings of five-hit ball to win her 10th decision. Nic Salanto was 3-for-4.
