Foran's Meade, Law's Caden Simpson, relays win track titles

Foran’s Soledad Meade and Law’s Caden Simpson, along with a pair of relay teams from Law brought home state titles from the CIAC Class meets held at Willow Brook Park in New Britain.

Foran’s Soledad Meade crushed her seed throw to become Class MM champion in the pole vault. A senior, Meade’s vault of 9-00 edged junior teammate Ava Steigbigel. Both had seed throws of 8-06 and qualified for this week’s State Open.

State Open qualifiers

Jonathan Law freshman Caden Simpson won the Class M 100-meter hurdles championship in 16.14 seconds. She finished seventh in the 300 hurdles (49.39).

Law’s Thomas Bretthauser, Shane Pritchard, Chris Wootton and Naheim Washington ran a 43.65 to earn the 4x100 title in Class M.

Bretthauser and Wooten were joined by Ethan Harrigan and Jackson Warters to place first in the 4x400 with a time of 3:28.61.

Warters will compete at the Open in the 110 and 300 hurdles.

Washington is in the Open field in the triple jump.

Foran qualifiers include Brett Dumais, who earned third in the pole vault (13-06).

Nathanael Huebner placed fourth in the 300 hurdles in 43.42.

Law Boys Team

Law took seventh in Class M. Haddam-Killingworth was first followed by Seymour.

Jackson Warters posted a 41.48 in the 300 hurdles to take fourth. He was fifth in the 110 hurdles (16.03).

Naheim Washington placed fifth in the triple jump (39-09.5). The senior took was eighth in the 100 dash in 11.59.

Wootton was sixth in 51.71 and Ethan Harrigan seventh (51.99) in the 400 dash.

Bretthauer was 10th in the 400 (52.71).

Pritchard placed 10th in the 200 dash (23.75).

Charles Wang, Matt DeLucia, Hunter Fock, Amir Elhelw combined senior forces to take 14th in the 4x800 (9:26.17).

Keyshon Giles took 21st in the 200 dash (24.38).

Gary Schulte was 15th in the discus throw (99-00).


Foran finished 14th in Class MM. Hillhouse was champion. Barlow was second.

Arezoo Ghazagh was ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:32.13.

Kahleigh Hackett, Ghazagh, Jillian Junga and Steigbigel took 13th in the 4x100 relay (54.00).


Law placed 16th in Class M. Weston won the title. Sheehan took second.

Sydney Simpson was seventh in the 100 dash (13.22).

Eira Rodriguez, Shelby Green, Hannah Rascoll and Katie Konareski finished seventh in the 4x800 relay (10:22.30).

Emma Nelly tied for eighth in the high jump (4-06). She was 22nd in the triple jump (29-04.75).

Konareski placed ninth in the 800-meter run in 2:27.04.

Sydney Simpson, Lauren Davis, Rascoll and Konareski placed 10th in the 4x400 relay (4:22.06).

The 4x100 relay team of Caden Simpson, Sydney Simpson, Elly Van Waveren and Brooke Dillman were 10th in 52.61.

Andrianna Bruno placed 11th in the long jump (15-06.50) and the triple jump (31-07.50).

Davis was 18th in the 400 dash (1:04.17).

Dillman was 20th in the triple jump (29-10.50).

Rodriguez took 29th in the 300 hurdles (55.21).


Foran finished 22nd in Class MM. Weston was first and Daniel Hand second.

Max Newton, Damon Downs, Nathanael Huebner and Basit Iddriss placed 16th in the 4x800 relay (9:06.98).
