Foran 4x200 relay breaks school record at Sectional

Foran’s David Grant-Eckhart, Joe DeFreitas, Nate Huebner and Basit Iddriss broke the school record and lowered their state qualifying time in the 4x200 relay by three seconds with a time of 1:38.91 at the SCC East Sectional indoor track meet.

“The boys came back later and shattered the sprint medley relay school record with a time of 3:53.50 while taking third place in the event,” coach Pete Jambor said.

“Ava Steigbigel placed second in the pole vault, establishing her personal best height and tying the school record of nine feet,” he added. “Ava has qualified for the Class M state championships. Jillian Junga, Ava Jaquez-Munroe, Arezoo Ghazagh and Maia Matula ran their fastest time of the year while placing sixth in the 4x200 relay to qualify for states.”

Other top performances for the boys came from Iddriss, who was second in the 600-meter run in 1:28.30. Huebner took fourth in the 600, Grant-Eckart was seventh in the long jump. Damon Downs was eighth in the 600.

Leading the girls were Ghazagh, who placed 10th in the 1000-meter run, and Junga, who was 11th in the 300-meter run.
