Darien’s Knight, No. 2 Boston College earn top seed in Hockey East

Darien’s Spencer Knight and the Boston College men’s ice hockey team are skating into the Hockey East Tournament as the No. 1 seed after finishing the regular season with a record of 16-4-1.

The second-ranked Eagles wrapped up the top spot with a 4-2 victory over No. 18 Northeastern on Friday. Knight made 32 saves in the win.

Knight has a save percentage of .937, with 534 saves against 570 shots this winter. He’s posted a 15-2-1 record with three shutouts.

The Eagles have won five of their last six games heading into the postseason, with the one loss coming in overtime to UMass 3-2 on Feb. 26.

The Hockey East Tournament first round will feature games between seeds No. 6 through 11, with the top five seeds receiving a bye.

Boston College will host a Hockey East quarterfinal game on Sunday, March 14, with the semifinals on March 17, and the championship game on March 20.
