State Rep. Charles Ferraro announced this week that he will run for a second term in the 117th Assembly District, which includes portions of Milford, Orange and West Haven.

“It has been my privilege to serve as State Representative and I have worked very hard to look out for the interests of my constituents,” Ferraro said in making his announcement. “I am proud that I have kept my campaign promises by voting against misguided tax increases, unfunded mandates and policies that drive businesses and good jobs out of Connecticut.”

Ferraro noted some bills he co-sponsored, including one that helps veterans with higher education and benefit assistance. He said he has also worked to secure adequate funding for state residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities, to protect electric consumers from deceptive billing practices, and to improve in-service training of teachers to better assist students with Dyslexia.

“In order to properly fund these types of programs we must get our fiscal house in order,” Ferraro said. “The current governor and Democrat majority refuses to be inclusive and consider our proposals to streamline government and spend responsibly so we don’t overburden taxpayers. Despite their record tax increases, our state is once again facing large budget deficits. We must increase Republican representation in our State Legislature, in order to bring a balanced perspective to Hartford.”

Ferraro serves on the Legislature’s Appropriations, Human Services and Public Safety and Security Committees.
