Video: Waterbury police seek suspect in fatal hit-and-run
WATERBURY — Police on Monday released video footage of a vehicle involved in a deadly pedestrian crash on Wolcott Street last week.
Officers were dispatched to the area of 760 Wolcott St. for a reported hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian around 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 22.
The suspect vehicle was headed north on Wolcott Street when the driver hit a 67-year-old man pushing a shopping cart while trying to cross the street near the Pep Boys Auto Parts, police said.
After hitting the pedestrian, police said the driver did not stop and continued north on Wolcott Street with the pedestrian still on the hood, police said.
When the driver turned right on Pritchard Avenue, police said, the pedestrian “rolled off the hood of the vehicle and fell onto the street.”
The suspect vehicle was last seen headed toward Stillson Road.
The 67-year-old pedestrian was found unconscious and unresponsive by first responders at the scene. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died two days later, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call the investigating officer at 203-346-3975 or 203-574-6911.
