ANSONIA — A Milford teen was charged after he was caught dumping a stolen vehicle in a city resident’s driveway Monday morning, police said Tuesday.

Police got a call about suspicious activity around 6:50 a.m. Monday in the area of Walkers Court.

Lt. Patrick Lynch said a resident told officers an unknown man parked a truck in his driveway and then walked away.

Officers found the teen — identified by police as 18-year-old Kyle Barone of Milford — a short distance away and confirmed he parked it there. He gave the officers the keys and said he borrowed it from a friend, Lynch said.

When the registered owner of the truck was reached, he said he didn’t even know his truck was missing and confirmed he hadn’t let anyone borrow it, Lynch said. He told police there was a spare key left in the truck.

Barone was charged with first-degree larceny. Lynch said Barone was also found in possession of a small amount of weed, and was also charged with possession of marijuana.

He also had an active arrest warrant in Ansonia for an incident in August when police say he broke into a car. He was additionally charged with third-degree burglary for that incident, Lynch said.

The bonds were a combined $40,000 on the charges.
