New Milford teens charged in Brookfield armed robbery, assault
BROOKFIELD — Two 19-year-old New Milford residents are facing robbery, larceny and assault charges after being arrested in connection with an incident at a Federal Road hotel six months ago.
Charles Brockett and Shyann Ranslow were arrested May 29, for their alleged involvement in a December armed robbery and assault at the Newbury Inn.
It was reported to police that two individuals entered a room at the hotel shortly before 5 a.m. Dec. 11, 2019, struck a male victim inside with a handgun, robbed him and then fled the scene.
Police said the weapon used was a Facsimile Glock and the victim sustained a minor laceration.
Brockett and Ranslow have been charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first degree robbery, and conspiracy to commit third-degree assault.
They were both released on a written promise to appear in court July 10.
It wasn’t Brockett’s first run-in with the law. Over the past year, he has been charged with stealing a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, transferring a stolen firearm, assault, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and violating protection orders, according to court records.
Police said there are active arrest warrants for two more individuals connected to the robbery and assault, and they are continuing efforts to locate the suspects.
“Witnesses were able to identify one of the suspects only as ‘Tammy,’” said police, who describe the suspect as a white male, approximately 20 years of age, with black hair, a thin build and between 6’5” and 6’7” tall.
Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Michael Zezza at 203-740-4123.
