Milford man faces strangulation charge after altercation with woman
MILFORD - A 27-year-old Milford man was been arrested on charges of second-degree strangulation and breach of peace.
Shortly after midnight on Sept. 23, police responded to the parking lot of Tower Plaza on Bridgeport Avenue. Police received a call from a person about a possible drug overdose.
“On arrival officers encountered a female who claimed she was just strangled by a male that she knows, while in the area,” police said. “A perimeter was established and officers located the male” identified as Nicholas Melita.
Melita is accused of engaging in a physical altercation with the female and at one point of wrapping his hands around the female’s neck.
Melita was held on $50,000 pending arraignment in Milford Superior Court.
