Cops: Man broke into Milford liquor store, stole $2,700 in merchandise
MILFORD — For the second time this week, police have arrested a person accused of breaking into a Milford package store and stealing merchandise.
James Thompson, 56, of Howard Avenue in New Haven, was arrested on a warrant Wednesday charging him with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, second-degree criminal mischief and related conspiracy charges.
“Thompson is accused of breaking into 242 Boston Post Road, Wines and More in April, 2020,” police said.
Thompson is accused of causing more than $500 in damage and stealing more than $2,700 in merchandise.
He was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond and is due in court Aug. 24.
On Monday, police arrested a 47-year-old West Haven woman accused of breaking into a different Milford package store and stealing cash and $2,900 worth of merchandise.
Melinda Hine, of Anderson Avenue, allegedly broke into Longo’s Wine and Liquor, 149 Welches Point Road, Jan. 19 and stole more than $2,900 worth of merchandise and $830 from the cash registers, and causing more than $5,000 worth of damage.
