BETHEL — Much remains unknown about the police investigation into the early Saturday morning stabbing on Midway Drive.

Bethel police received a call around 2 a.m. from Danbury police about a stabbing victim at Danbury Hospital, Lt. George Bryce from the Bethel Police Department said Monday afternoon.

“The event happened sometime around 1:30 a.m.,” Bryce said, and the victim was transported to the hospital by “another party.”

Due to the nature of the injury, Bryce said, the hospital contacted Danbury police.

The victim told police the stabbing happened on Midway Drive, a residential street off Milwaukee Avenue — not far from the Bethel police station.

The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is urged to call Detective Sgt. Zavatsky at 203-744-7900.

The alleged stabbing on Saturday was not the first in Bethel this year.

Back in August, emergency personnel responded to a stabbing on Plumtrees Road — less than two miles away from Midway Drive. That stabbing, however, was fatal.

A woman died Aug. 24, after being stabbed several times at the Colonial Acres condominium complex. Her 34-year-old boyfriend, David MacDowell, was arrested and charged with first-degree manslaughter.

MacDowell died 10 days later after being found hanged in his cell at the Bridgeport Correctional Center, where he was being held on $1 million bond.
