Virginia Lynn Smith Gerstenberger, age 91, of Milford and beloved wife to the late Walter Gerstenberger, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Maplewood at Orange.Born on June 19, 1921 in Muskegon, Michigan she was the daughter of the late Charles and Hazel Ford Smith.Ginny was president and treasurer for the Milford chapter of AARP. She was also a past president of the Milford Garden Club and an active member of her church, First United Church of Christ. Ginny loved to travel with family and friends to places such as Russia, Africa, India, Europe, Hawaii, Mexico and Bermuda. She also enjoyed gardening, skiing and sailing.Ginny was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.Virginia is survived by her children, Krissa Bolton and her husband James from VT, Eric Gerstenberger and his wife Jane from SC, Lori Pujda from Milford and Beth Zucker and her husband Richard from Weston; five grandchildren, Jamie Bolton, Rob Bolton and his wife Gunjan, Erik Gerstenberger, Fera Smith and her husband Andrew, and Michael Pujda; two great grandchildren, Eleri and Nalani Smith.A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at First United Church of Christ, 34 West Main Street, Milford, CT. Interment will be private.
