Audrey E. (Fortier) Ives, 68, of Tyngsboro, MA, formerly of Lowell, died November 1, 2016, at Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Thomas C. Ives, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. Born in Lowell, January 4, 1948, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Estelle (Brouillette) Fortier. She received her early education at Our Lady of Lourdes School, and graduated from Keith Hall High School with the Class of 1965. After graduation, she started work as a telephone operator with what is now Verizon. She held many positions at the phone company and had worked her way up to Director of Training at the time of her retirement in 1994. She met Tom while attending a local mixer. They married on April 3, 1971, resided in the Highlands for a time, then moved to Tyngsboro, where they have called home ever since. The beach, her gardens, the White Mountains, music and art were just a few of Audrey\u2019s favorite things. Throughout her life, she loved to spend time at the ocean, especially Hampton Beach in her youth, the Cape and Maine. She visited many museums and galleries, decorating her home with specially chosen New England artists, and she filled her life with the sounds of many musicians from across rock, classical and the blues. She attended hundreds of concerts over the years, with the Rolling Stones ranking as her all-time favorite. She was a member of the Tyngsboro Garden Club and a devoted Red Sox fan. Audrey believed life was meant to be lived and was always up for a little adventure \u2014 if there was an interesting detour, good food, great wine or interesting company to be found along the way, all the better. But there was nothing was more important to Audrey than her family, and she especially enjoyed doting on her cherished grandson. A devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother, she will always be remembered as the true heart of her family who kept everyone centered. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Hilary E. Ives of Bedford, MA, a grandson, Connor T. Hayward, also of Bedford, and his fianc\u00e9e MacKenzie E. Reid of Dracut, MA, four brothers, Leon Fortier and his wife Lucille of North Chelmsford, MA, Marc Fortier and his wife Mary of New Ipswich, NH, Roger Fortier and his wife Michelle of Tewksbury, MA, and Ronald Fortier and his wife Karen of Amesbury, MA, her nieces and nephews, a large, loving extended family and dear friends. Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Boulevard, the Highlands neighborhood of Lowell, MA, on Wednesday, Nov. 9,\u00a0from 4 to 8 PM. Her Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 10,\u00a0at 10 AM. Interment is private.
