Edward David Wasson, Jr. (Ned) who spent most of his life in Milford lost his battle with Alzheimer\u2019s disease on Wednesday October 3rd 2012.Ned was born on June 1st 1937 to the late Edward and Ruth Wasson from Milford.Ned was married to his high school sweetheart Claudia who predeceased him in 2000. They spent 42 years together building a loving family of 4 boys. Ned was a fun loving, caring soul, with a great sense of humor. Ned always had a smile on his face even in the most difficult of times. He was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.Ned graduated from Milford High School. After graduation he attended the UCONN School of Engineering. He spent most of his career at New England Tubular Rivet in Milford working his way from the manufacturing floor to General Manager ultimately running the business. He ended his career retiring from the Stop and Shop Corporation as a Supervisor at their distribution facility in North Haven. Ned was a dedicated father, mentor, and coach to his sons and their friends.He coached youth baseball, football, and basketball, andwas very involved in Boy Scouts and many other youth activities. He also had a passion for music and played drums in his high school jazz band.Ned enjoyed music from all generations, from big band to Fleetwood Mac, his favorite.Ned was predeceased by his first son Milford Police Officer Daniel Scott Wasson in 1987.Survivors include his loving sisters Virginia Hungerford and her husband Stan from Ledyard, Ct., and Patty Leavens and her husband Chuck from Mansfield Center, Ct, Son Ray Wasson and his wife Meg from Milford, Son Jeff Wasson and his companion Christine from Caledonia, NY, and Son Alan Wasson from Byram, Texas. Grandchildren, Amanda, Danielle, Nicky, Molly, and Cassie, as well as many other nieces and nephews.Ned will be missed and loved by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday October 14, 2012 at 1:00pm in the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home 135 N. Broad St. Milford. Friends may call prior to the service from 12 noon.
