Obituary: Robert "Bob" Buda, 85, of Stratford

Robert (Bob) Buda, age 85, passed away peacefully into the arms of God on the evening of Thursday, October 23, 2014 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.

Born in Bridgeport, on May 19, 1929, Bob was the eldest child born to Frank G. and Margaret Reeves Buda Sr.

Bob lived most of his life in Stratford and spent time at the beach where he found the ocean gave him a sense of peace and tranquility. Bob enjoyed detailing his car, trips to the casino with his niece Michele and vacations to Maryland.

Bob, a retired roofer, was a member of the Improved Order of the Red Men, Holy Name Men’s Society and an usher at Holy Name of Jesus parish. Bob dedicated himself to helping others, did so willingly and often without being asked. He was a man of deep faith and was always an uplifting force in all the lives he touched. Bob could make a friend anywhere and had many longtime friends throughout his life.

Survivors include his brother Frank Buda Jr. and wife Barbara of Stratford, a sister Jean Buda of Milford and a sister-in-law, Diane Buda of Stratford, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his beloved parents, he was predeceased by his sister Margaret Stempert, his youngest brother Michael J. Buda Sr., nephews Daniel Stempert, Frank Buda III and Michael J. Buda Jr.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the dedicated and caring medical staff of St. Vincent’s Medical Center - 6 North. Friends and family may visit on Monday, October 29th from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Avenue, Stratford with Reverend Andrew Marus officiating. Interment will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Name of Jesus Church in memory of Bob.
