Robert ‘Bob’ Brantley, age 86, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Bernice Florian Brantley, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, in Milford Hospital.
Born on Dec. 18, 1927, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary Babey Brantley.
Growing up in Stratford and graduating from Stratford High School, he later moved to Milford where he resided for over 60 years. A veteran of the Korean War, Bob served as Staff Sergeant (SSG) with the 25th Infantry Division (Tropical Lightning) receiving the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
After his honorable discharge from the military, Bob joined the Milford Fire Department retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. He was also a carpenter and roofer. He spent many years helping his wife with her special pet-sitting business, “Pawsitive Petcare” and could be seen many a Sunday morning at the Kimberly Diner with friends and family.
Bob will be remembered for many reasons, but mostly for how much he loved his wife and children. He was a true family man who made life easy and joyful for his loved ones without ever letting on or voicing complaint as to how hard he worked to provide for them. He always found time to spare for his family, whether it was an activity with one of his children or taking his wife for a simple drive in the car. His children have great memories of a wonderful, attentive father to see them through their days of mourning.
Bob is survived by his 3 children, Richard Brantley (Natalia) of Milford, Claudia Paluch (Anton) of Trumbull, and Greta Pelle (David) of Milford, 2 grandchildren, Richard Brantley and Carly Pelle, a sister, Jean Taylor (Edward) of Florida, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Brantley on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at 11:00am at Christ the Redeemer Church in Milford.
