Obituary: Maureen Ferry Slattery, 92, of Milford

Maureen Ferry Slattery, age 92, of Milford and of Weston, FL, passed away on December 10, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick A. Slattery.

She was born in Meriden on June 3, 1922 to the late Thomas L. and Anna Donahoe Ferry.

Maureen was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle, Fordham University, and Fairfield University. She worked initially at Catholic Family Services in New Haven and later, for over 20 years as a social worker and administrator for the Board of Education in Bridgeport.

She was a longtime parishioner of St Ann Church and was very active in the St. Ann Ladies Guild. After retiring, Maureen spent winters in Weston, FL where she was the president of her condo association, as well as an active member in numerous social clubs.

Maureen loved traveling and experiencing different cultures and meeting new people. She toured extensively across the US and six continents.

She is survived by three sons, William Slattery and his wife Diane, Paul Slattery and his wife Susan, Robert Slattery and his wife Eileen, all of Milford; one daughter, Kathryn Imperato of Norwalk; nine grandchildren, Carrie-Ann Diorio, William and Brianne Slattery, Matthew and David Slattery, Robert and Kaitlyn Slattery, Louis and Maureen Imperato; two brothers, Vincent Ferry and his wife Betty of Boynton Beach, FL and William Ferry and his wife Jackie of Charlotte, NC; sister, Anne Jane Delaney and her husband Thomas of West Hartford and many nieces and nephews.

Maureen was predeceased by her two brothers; John J. Ferry and Thomas L. Ferry III.

Friends and family may call on Friday from 4:00PM-7:00PM in The Gregory F Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 9:00AM DIRECTLY in Saint Ann Church, Milford. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 250 Gypsy Lane, Meriden.
