Obituary: Marianne Conaty Healy, 64, art teacher, softball coach

Marianne Conaty Healy, 64, beloved wife of John F. Healy Jr., passed away peacefully on June 6, 2014, at her home, lovingly surrounded by her family.

Marianne was born July 9, 1949, to the late Thomas Clarence Conaty and Katherine Bridget Higgins Conaty of Hartsdale, New York.

Marianne was a devoted wife, mother, friend, artist, teacher, and coach. She taught art at Bassick High School, Emmett O’Brien, and Platt Regional Technical School for a combined period of 28 years. She coached softball for 19 of those years, and touched countless lives working with young people.

Marianne was a creative spirit, and enjoyed all mediums of art, and this was clear in everything that she did. She enjoyed spending time in Vermont and Maine, relishing in the beauty of nature and God’s gifts. She was devoted to her Catholic faith, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband John, Marianne is survived by her devoted children, Katherine B. Tyson, her husband Keith, and their children, Cameron and Connor; her daughter Erin K. Garney, her husband Ron, and their children, Juliet, Tristan, and Ireland; her son, John F. Healy III, his wife Lauren, and their son John Francis Healy IV (Trey); a brother Thomas Conaty and his wife Susan; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford CT, 06460 with Father Maurice Maroney officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Milford, CT. Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford, handled arrangements..

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marianne’s name to Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven Hospital, Closer to Free Fund, P.O. Box 7611, New Haven, CT 06519.
