John I. Virzi, 83, of Orange, CT, died May 6, 2014 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the loving husband of Patricia Virzi and son of the late Joseph and Francesca (Giordano) Virzi.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, John is survived by three daughters: Anna Maria Virzi (Patrick F. Quinn); Susan Vendola (Christopher) and Patricia Esposito. He is also survived by: Anna Curtis, his sister; Joseph Virzi, his brother; Eugene Melewski, a brother-in-law; granddaughters, Cristina and Katie Esposito; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Frank.
Born in Ansonia, John was a 1949 Ansonia High School graduate.
He served four years in the U.S. Air Force, including a two-year assignment in Alaska. John was a Subaru dealer in Stratford during the 1970s. He was also sales manager at Cadillac-Oldsmobile dealerships in Bridgeport and Westport and manager of real estate offices in Stratford and Milford.
In his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, sketching and performing home renovations.
The family is grateful to Yale Cardiology’s staff, especially Dr. Michael Remetz, for medical care they provided to John over the years.
Visiting hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9TH (TODAY), at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 N Broad St, Milford, CT. On Saturday, May 10th at 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian burial will take place at Holy Infant Church 450 Race Brook Rd., Orange. Burial will take place at Mount St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
