Obituary: James V. Pocock Sr., 88, retired Battalion Chief, Milford Fire Department

James V. Pocock Sr., 88, of Milford, retired Battalion Chief for the Milford Fire Department, husband of the late Ruth Stevenson Pocock, died Feb. 25.

Born Aug. 16, 1927, in Milford to the late Richard J. Pocock and Jessie Apsey Pocock; U.S. Navy, World War II, Korean War.

Survived by his sons, the Reverend James V. Pocock Jr. and his wife, Beth of Salem, Mass., and Jeffrey S. Pocock and his wife, Rebecca of Guilford; grandchildren, Nathan J. Pocock, Isabel S. Pocock, and Olivia Pocock; and a brother, Richard A. Pocock of Vermont.

Also predeceased by his brother, John G. Pocock.

Visiting hours: Sunday, March 6, 3-7 p.m., Smith Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 7, at 10 a.m., in the United Presbyterian Church, 109 Seaside Ave., Milford. Burial will follow in King’s Highway Cemetery, Milford.
