James P. Lewis, 85, of Milford, executive director of research, projects and grants at Columbia University, husband of Jean Ann (Topitzer) Lewis, died March 4, in Trumbull.
Born Feb. 7, 1931 in Bridgeport, son of the late Otha Lewis and Elizabeth Johnson Lewis; U.S. Navy veteran, Korean Conflict
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, James P. Lewis Jr. and his wife, Mary Eckenrode of Roswell, Ga., three daughters, Mary DiBenedetto and her husband, David of Orange, Emily Kowalski and her husband, Jarett of Milford, and Susan Domizio and her husband, Stephen of Fairfield, 11 grandchildren, a brother, Charles Lewis of Branford, and a sister, Janet Lyon of Cape Cod, Mass.
Also predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Lewis and his sister, Shirley Halcott.
Visiting hours: Friday, March 11, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. at the Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford.
