James A. Stevens, Sr., age 78, resident of Milford for over 56 years and beloved husband to the late Audrey Otto Stevens, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 8, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at Vibra Hospital in Springfield, MA.
Born on December 17, 1935 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late James I. and Madeline Bunce Stevens.
James served with pride and honor in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Baltimore CA68 and the USS Laws DD558. Prior to his retirement, he worked for CT Light and Power for over 32 years.
He was a member of the Port 5 Naval Club, the American Legion Post 196 and the Good Sam’s Club.
Loving and kind father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his two sons, James A. Stevens, Jr. and his wife Patsorn and Wayne Stevens and his wife Deborah; five cherished grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also, his siblings, Donald J. Stevens and his wife Sue, John Stevens and his wife Sue and Margaret Hawes; his Aunt Lorraine Morrisey and may loving nephews and nieces.
Due to the inclement weather, the Prayer Service will be held on SATURDAY, February 15th at 11:00 am at Cody-White Funeral Home. Interment to follow at King’s Highway Cemetery with full military honors. Friends and family may call on FRIDAY, February 14th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460.
