Glenna Louise Kaluzynski, 77, of Jensen Beach Florida, formerly of Milford, CT, devoted wife of Joseph P. Kaluzynski, passed away peacefully at her Milford home with her family by her side on July 4, 2013.
Glenna was born on October 14, 1935 at Grace New Haven Hospital, CT and was the daughter of the late Ruth and Nordell Shores.
In addition to her loving husband and best friend of 59 years, Glenna is survived by her children, Matthew ( Jean ), Patricia ( Patrick ) Rourke, Theresa ( Stanley ) Bajerski, all of Milford, CT and Joseph ( Alex Wearne ) of Dulwich Hill, Australia. Her son, Michael, recently passed away on May 4, 2013. Her grandchildren: Tina Titus, Matthew, Jr., Stephanie and Barbara Weller of Milford, CT.
Besides her parents, Glenna was predeceased by her sister, Norma Shores.
Glenna was a 1952 graduate of Milford High School, Milford, CT. Prior to her marriage she was employed as a telephone operator with SNET, Bridgeport Division. For the past 59 years, as Glenna would tell you, she was a Domestic Engineer.
Glenna filled her home with family and friends, humor and laughter; making family memories that her children carry on to this day. She was the silent driving force for family birthdays, anniversaries, picnics, parties, holidays and Sunday dinners. She made everyone feel welcomes and you never left her house hungry; making sure there was enough homemade food for everyone.
Glenna started each day with coffee and toast while completing her crossword puzzle, Sudoku, and cryptogram. She was an avid reader, bingo player and very enthusiastic and lucky casino slot player. One of the highlights of her day was when she and Joe played their card games after lunch and she actually won a hand or two. Glenna started her own business, “Pour Glenna’s”, after finding a love for ceramics. Among the many items she made for each of her children, she made a set of Christmas dinnerware which they proudly used during the holidays.
Glenna and Joe found a love for traveling in their RB. They traveled up and down the east coast, from Canada to Florida. Some of her favorite places were Flying Point in Maine, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Jekyll Island, off the coast of Georgia, and all points in Florida including Key West. Glenna and Joe moved to Florida in 2000 and became official “snow birds” by spending the summer months in Milford.
Glenna’s sense of humor and her quiet nurturing, calming ways will forever be missed by her husband, children, grandchildren and friends.
The Kaluzynski family would like to thank the Milford Emergency Rescue Service Personnel, who were always there when needed. Also, the nurse and doctors at Yale New Haven Hospital, cardiac intensive care unit, Milford Hospital, intensive care unit and SolAmor Hospice Care for their kindness, support, understanding and care they showed their beautiful wife/mother/grandmother throughout her remaining days.
