
Arthur Conrad Streit, age 82, of Deep River, Bethany and Milford died on Thursday, June 26. He was the beloved husband of Barbara “Bobbie” Mae (McCarthy) Streit for 58 years.
Born on August 8, 1931, he was the son of the late Dorothea (Scalia) Stannard. He was known by many names - “Pat”, “Pete”, “Art”, “Poppy”, “Grampa”, but known by all as a perfect husband, dad, and role model.
He was an expert typesetter/ machinist and entrepreneur of the successful Majestic Cleaning Village I and II in West Haven, CT. Actively involved in his communities, he was a dedicated veteran of the Korean War (U.S. Army), Bethany Buttons & Bows square dancer, shop steward of the CWA/IBT International Typographical Union, member of VFW Post 7788 of Devon, the American Legion (Deep River), a Boy Scout leader, Democratic Town Committee 2d District Chair and City of Milford Fire Commissioner.
In addition to his wife, he will be missed most deeply by his children, Daniel Streit (Rita), Harold Streit (Victoria), Timothy Streit (former wife, Lisa), Laurie Streit-Wolfe (Jerry), Mary Edo (Doug), Beverly Streit-Kefalas (Nicholas), Jennifer Ritchotte (John), and Nanci Streit-Rohmer (Kurt); his 25 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Simons, sister-in-law Maryann Smith (Lester) and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Audrey Ely of Deep River, CT.

Friends and family may call on Monday, June 30 from 4:00PM-8:00PM in The Gregory F Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 1st at 10:00AM DIRECTLY in Our Lady of Assumption Church, 81 Center Rd, Woodbridge. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 48 Middlesex Avenue, Chester.
