Anne B. LeGeyt, 96, died Jan. 13, 2014, at home in Milford. She and her late husband, John R. LeGeyt, Sr., moved to Milford 70 years ago and raised their family on Second Avenue in Laurel Beach beginning in 1953.

Born Dec. 5, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Stanislaus and Mary Motyka Bezak, 1906 and 1902 immigrants from Poland.

Raised in Thompsonville, CT, she met John in 1939 and they eloped to Maine. They moved to this area during World War II as the war materials machines were expanding businesses in Bridgeport and surrounding towns.

She was a lifelong Democrat and loved local and national politics. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for two of her sons. Until physical limitations interfered she was an avid bowler with a seniors league and a member of the Laurel Beach Garden Club. She had been a communicant of St. Gabriel Church in Milford.

She is survived by three sons and a daughter: John R. LeGeyt Jr., of Key West; Susan LeGeyt and her spouse, Diane Iglesias of Guilford; Mark LeGeyt of Milford; and Brian LeGeyt of Milford. Among several nephews and nieces, nephew David Pratson and his wife, Debbie, of Wilton and their son Adam, were especially close. Three grandchildren, Mark Joseph Jr. of Riverdale, N.Y., Kristen LeGeyt of Manhattan, NY, and John LeGeyt of Branford survive their grandmother.

She was predeceased by 8 brothers and 4 sisters, several nieces and nephews.
