Helen Skirkanich Jankowski, 86, of Stratford, beloved wife of Henry Jankowski, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2014, in Regency House Health Center, Wallingford.
Helen, a retired Business Manager for the Town of Stratford, Board of Education, was born in Bridgeport to the late Michael and Susan (Kerpchar) Skirkanich, and has been a life long area resident.
She was an active, life long member of the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport, and their Mother’s and Daughter’s Club, and Seniors, and was an avid fan of U-Conn Girls Basketball.
Survivors in addition to her husband, include her devoted sons, Mark Jankowski and his wife Jane of Cheshire, and Joseph Jankowski and his wife Colleen of Coventry, 5 cherished grandchildren, Suzanne and Elizabeth Jankowski, Kaitlin Fonseca and her husband Andrew, Michael Jankowski and his wife Julianna, and Micah Jankowski, 2 great-grandchildren Asa James, and Owen Hunter Jankowski, her brother Andrew Skirkanich of Milford, 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Skirkanich of Stratford, and Helen Skirkanich of Milford, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her brothers, John, Michael and Peter Skirkanich.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 25th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Panachida at 4:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in Helen’s memory to the Camp Nazareth Fund at St. John’s Church.
